Everyone in this group has nice a nice voice, I think it's best if they focus more on that instead of being given songs with an ugly forced rap break.

For me, I never heard of her until her scandal with Jonghyun.
ironically, everybody at SM agrees that those 3 are the biggest jocks. yet i still prefer Siwon and Yunho over Minho becuz at least they give u the vibe of good men deep down. even if they are confident, they are still humble and kind when treating other. Both always bow 90 degrees, hug all their staff, bring them food and supplements, ask about their families, and do lots of charity work privately (Yunho has been sponsoring's kids' education since his debut, and hes volunteered cleaning orphanages with his friends. Siwon is always on top of the lists when it comes to charity).

He reminds me of that poor male idol in a group that has been "forced" into the rapper role, because he can't sing as well as the others/or at all - because we all know that rap doesn't acquire some vocal talent or musicianship -_- (yes, that last part was sarcasm)

ReplyDeleteI didn't even follow her and as an ifan I remember her being interviewed several times on Entertainment Weekly way before she dated Jonghyun. Plus allkpop constantly posted articles with her photos from mags and ads before she dated him too. It was amusing to see lots of ifans who didn't know who she was thinking Jonghyun made her famous. I think Korea knows SHINee as a group but they don't have major stardom as individuals. Maybe Minho has the most public recognition since he was a very popular member of Dream Team 2.

Yeah, he is a big tryhard but he's soooooooooo sweet and lovely, and you're right about why he does it. He always tries really hard and sometimes it looks stupid but most of the time it just results in him improving himself and giving a good performance.

I actually love Siwon, Yunho and Minho. Lol, yeah, they're always trying to act cool, but it's kind of endearing, maybe because all three of them have a reputation for being genuinely nice and gentlemanly in real life. And they work really hard. Let's not forget they are hot too. About Minho's talents...at least he can keep up with SHINee's choreography, that's something lots of idols can't say for themselves. And he's slowly improving his singing.

Its okay sometimes but like this his directedness is unkind and inconsiderate....he didnt have to say it on camera and because he didnt watch his mouth he put his own group member on the chopping board. imagine how Minho feel if he read those comments, and key gave those netizens the topic/excuse to go off on him. I am a shawol and I must admit Minho tries really hard to be cool on stage but it just ends up looking awkward. Even for ballads, he tries to act emotional but it just ends up being weird ( Like in Fire) I dont know about his rapping since I dont much about rapping but I like it. His personality is nice which is good, he works REALLY hard and his competitiveness is amazing. His singing has improved which is good. I am sure he knows his faults since he always mentions how he is lacking. And lol the guy who dated Shin Se Kyung hahaha oh Jjong. I am glad that the netizens criticized him without being TOO mean. Which is why I was using sarcasm :) I hate that idol groups tend to put the label "rapper" on the non-singers in the group, just because it doesn't require them to hit the high notes or do the harmonies. Being able to sing a couple of lines really fast, does not a rapper make ;)
ReplyDeleteThe flow and the wordplay/pronunciation is extremely important like you said (that is also why I mentioned top and Minho as some of the rappers I don't like, since they are so monotone - it's the same with Tiffany from SNSD - who is my bias btw - she can sing, but she can't rap for shit and I hate how they are trying to make it seem like any of the SNSD girls can)
I didn't know people hated Minho so much. He's not my favorite in Shinee but he looks like a nice person. Every group has members that are just there for their face. Key isn't that talented either if you ask me but I still like him too.

Just because he doesn't have a perfectly fake character like other idols doesn't mean that he should be hated on. Look at what happened with Onew, if his character hadn't been so perfect before then he wouldn't have gotten so much hate. I really like Onew and I hope that he can be more carefree about his image now. Same goes to the rest of Shinee.

ReplyDeletei'm not a fan of shinee , but i saw their show in hello baby and minho semsed so caring to the young child ! :-) he was always around him he and jonghyun were the most attentional with the baby but minho was a bit more ...i like that about him ..i quitte like him now because of that and i'm someone that don't really like the visual of the group well because -_-".....they are only populare for their face and i don't really like that :-/ ...the same go for lee joon from mblaq at first i thought meh..but then i saw how he really is a hardworking "babo" that many people make fun of lol it's not the case of all ..but yea i don't know about his rap but it's true that he somewhat has " a cool act " lol but i don't think he is that bad if he is caring with children but he can be maybe arrogant with other or girls..this i don't know (i don't like when someone is too arrogant -_-") but as said he can't be that bad ^^
ReplyDeleteI noticed that Minho even dresses similarly to Siwon. The preppy style and all, with the formal button-down shirts and sweaters. He's toned it down lately, but it was so obvious and try-hard last year or a couple years back.

ReplyDeleteThis is so true. My heart hurts as a shawol when people constantly put him down. I know he's the least talented in shinee, but he's improved so much and I wish people could see that. Compare his raps in songs like Replay and LLO to Dream Girl and you can see how he's improved. He's also gotten much better as a singer. I hope he continues to improve because I want him to show everyone what he's capable of (:

not really in this case.. yunho works hard because he wants to best himself, improve all the time, be successful etc. he tries hard in things like sports because he wants to do the best he can. he tries hard to be 'cool' because that was always the image he had to fulfill, just like some people have a cute image or whatever
ReplyDeleteact cool for me is consider as childish/immature, i don't why i alway think that childish/immature boy like to act cool in front of girl to show that they are handsome so i find it quite funny when i saw guys act cool in front of me:p and i think that when he is with people who are older than him he will also put down his 'act cool' vibe~ but well, people who like him will eventually become a shawol/flamer but people who don't like it just ignore him:) i don't expect everyone to like his act cool thing but i don't like it that people will forever will take his singing and rapping to attack him:( why can they link act cool and singing into one thing and start bashing him..

thank you. i love the few times TOP puts some passion in his rap like a few parts in haru haru or the last part in his performance for Act like nothings wrong.i wish he was like that more often. he was definitely more energetic in the beginning days but for the most part his raps are dull. GD's melodious passionate rapping is just awesome. but i feel like rather than GD being a better rapper its that TOP is holding back. he can be better but he just doesn't show it all the time. i mean he has a good singing voice too but those who didn't watch him do no diggity would know that. if he had kept on singing since those debut days big bang would have been an even better group.and he wouldn't have had to just sit doing nothing in performances except "my word my world"

ReplyDeletelol maybe I should've added that actually these three are my favorites! It can be such a turn off but they're all really has nice personality under their tryhardness. I always feel like they're the type of person who will try their hardest to please other people too, Which, of course can be both good and bad too.

ReplyDeleteIt is because this is not Hip Hop or a place for rap. Kpop does not care much about rap. It's like an extra. of course rap has it's own levels and such. But in Kpop they use it as speed speech. Specially in SM, they don't care if someone is the best rapper, but the less of a singer.

ReplyDeleteyeah, I agree. It's as if he has worked so hard to get this stone-face/cool guy image that it transferred into his rapping as well -_- I have no doubt that he loves hip hop and rapping and that he can write the lyrics, but it hardly shows in his performance.

ReplyDeleteKey thinks it looks cool and sexy, he looks over-dressed and over-accessorized to the point where he looks ridiculous (and not cool). He didn’t even wear warm clothes in the cold evening weather of London in the middle of winter, he cared so much about looking fashionably cool.
ReplyDeleteMinho seems cool with that, he doesn’t have any pretensions about his role as an idol or about the function/purpose/reality of SHINee and he knows he’s not a musician.
ReplyDeleteI think the more people talk about how bad Minho is as a rapper and a singer, the more it is a case of these people trying to reassure themselves that they’re “right” in their opinion about him. If they are confident about their opinion, they wouldn’t have to make 1000s opinions about it or use what Key says to support their opinions.
Minho’s voice is rare and that makes it all the more special. His singing is very precious because we don’t get to hear much of it and the truth is that he doesn’t decide; it’s SM management that make the decision about who is going to sing and what type of song the band will sing.
